Bijli Mahadev
Bijli Mahadev is one of the ancient temples in India. Located 22 km from Kullu across the Beas river, It is also renowned as the ‘Temple of Lightning’. Bijli Mahadev Temple is a huge temple that is dedicated to Lord Shiva. This temple is located at the height of 2,450 m above sea level. This temple represents the Pahari, a broad generalisation of groups of people living in the Himalayan foothills. According to local people, a 60-foot long shaft on the temple top attracts atmospheric lightning and destroys the lingam at regular intervals.
This place is full of mystery and miracles. We will tell you about a Shivling on which celestial lightning falls once every 12 years, in connection with this auspicious month of Sawan. The fall of this power causes the Shivling to crumble. But the glory of Lord Shiva is so incomparable that after breaking the Shivling it takes concrete shape again. The place is too scenic due to the location of the temple which is at the top most end of the Mathan hill.
