Triund
This spectacular hilltop is located approximately 17 kms away from Dharamshala at an altitude of 2,827 meters above sea level. While in Triund, you can easily gape in the astounding Dhauladhar Range on one side and the charismatic Kangra Valley on the other. Triund is one of the most popular destinations in North India. Majority of the people travelling to Mcleod Ganj and Dharamshala do undertake the trek to Triund. Triund is inaccessible in January and February due to heavy snowfall. The best time for the trekking is from March till May in the first part of the year and from September till December in the second half of the year. It is Rainy in June and July but still trekking is possible the meadow is lush green presenting out of this world.
Triund Trek in Himachal Pradesh
Triund is a serene and alluring trekking destination. The trek to Triund is around 9-10 KMs from Mcleod Ganj, Himachal Pradesh. And the Triund trek is a moderately challenging trek, popular among adventure enthusiasts of all ages. The trail goes through the forest of deodar, rhododendron and oak, the fresh air here will soothe your mind and muscles while you negotiate the tough curves. Triund trek is for all and most popular activity in Mcleod ganj and you will definitely not regret it. The Triund trek will take at best four hours to complete and though quite a few manage to do it within two hours. The trail itself isn’t too gruelling, even for the unseasoned trekker. Triund trek is regarded as an easy trek and is considered as a right choice for a beginner. The whole trek is nearly 9 km and out of that 4 km is a steep but easy climb. However, the last 2 km can be a bit tough for some. The trail is famous for its 22 curves. Your fitness won’t be challenged but your will to finish will be. The trip to Triund trek can be done at any time of the year except the months of January and February because of the heavy snowfall. However, the best time to visit Triund is from March to mid or end of June before the monsoon arrives in North India. After that one can also undertake the trek to Triund in the months of September and October.
Delhi —Chandgarh—Dharamshala— Mcleod Ganj—Triund
Day 1 – Trek to Triund (3-4Hours)
Reach Mcleodganj at around 8 AM. Hit a cafe for some chai and breakfast. Refresh and unwind before start the trek. At around 10 AM, we shall start out trek towards Triund. The distance which has to be covered is about 9 km, with gradual slopes.
Day 2 – Trek down to Mcleod Ganj
Wake up early to see the Himalayan peaks turn golden with the sun’s first rays falling on them. Sip on the hot cup of tea, and fill your lungs with freshness. After breakfast, we shall start heading back to Mcleod.

How to Reach
By Car: – When you travel to Dharamshala from Delhi, the route from Delhi to Dharamshala is as follows
Delhi – Sonipat – Panipat – Kurukshetra – Chandigarh – Dharamshala.
By Train: – By tran you can reach at Pathankot and from Pathankot to Dharamshala by Cab and it will take 3-4 hours to reach Dharamshala.
By Flight: – Flights are also available to Dharamshala (Gaggal Airport or Kangra Airport) and eventually, you can reach Mcleod Ganj by booking a private cab.
